As we bid farewell to 2024, we reflect on a year that has tested us, taught us, and transformed us. It’s been a year of challenges. Life’s hardest lessons for some. But also a year of clarity, where we’ve discovered what truly matters and let go of what no longer serves us. At the salon, we’ve faced illnesses, farewelled best friends, shared in our guests’ struggles, and questioned ourselves. Yet, through it all, we’ve remembered to truly live; traveling, learning, celebrating, and finding joy with friends and family.

Now, as a new year dawns, we stand on the brink of endless possibilities. 2025 brings a horizon full of fresh opportunities and challenges, and we’re ready to embrace it all. Here’s to growth, to resilience, and to all the “new” that awaits. Happy New Year, New Zealand!

There is so much hype at the moment about BKT Nanoplasty smoothing services. Do they really give you glass-like hair? Enter Ashleigh @ashleighconnolly_, who was willing to test out the service here at Oscar&Co, and give her honest opinion of what it is really like. Ashleigh has put together a video diary showing her hair management BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the treatment.

1️⃣ BEFORE: How Ashleigh’s hair was before the BKT treatment and how much time and effort it took to keep it looking good.
2️⃣ DURING: A snapshot of Ashleigh’s time in the salon with @hair.by.amylouise getting the BKT Nanoplasty treatment. Note this is a 3-6 hour service depending on how much hair you have.
3️⃣ AFTER: How Ashleigh’s hair looks naturally after the BKT treatment, and how much time she has saved in managing her hair each day.

Note that Ashleigh’s hair is probably the hardest type of hair to straighten. She has thick and very curly hair. If you have less hair, and less natural curls, the treatment is likely to mean you don’t have to straighten your hair after the service. It should remain relatively sleek and straight without much more by way of daily maintenance.
